One-way ticket, please

Thu May 29, 2008, 4:46 PM
My last day of classes in high school was on Tuesday.
Today was my last day of finals in high school.
Today was the last time I took off my damned uniform.
Tomorrow is my placement exam for college.
6/7/08 is the day I graduate.

To say that I've been impatiently waiting this sweet-sweet departure is a grandiose understatement.
I'm fucking tired, excited but most importantly, anxious.
I've been told, "You'll miss high school. You'll see." And I disagree.

CORRECTION!
I'll miss high school work,
not high school.

There's a lot of shit I've done in h.s. that I know for certain wouldn't fly in college.

I definitely won't miss the faculty and administration, the ridiculously crowded halls or the over-sized classrooms, the assholes - the jocks, the cattiness - the cheerleaders and of course the egotism that permeates overall. They can all go suck a duck.

But I will miss the bus/train rides home with my friend - the only real friend I managed to make here. She's off to Philadelphia in late August. And I'll be here. :(
We'll see how the distance will work out. We've both had bad experiences with friends and distance.
Surprisingly, she's being more pessimistic about us keeping in touch than I am(although deep down, I know better).

We did have a good "suck-it school!" do-da dance, though.

I was told h.s. would be the best 4 years of my life.
enjoy it.
carpe diem.
and all that crap.
Somebody lied. :unimpressed:

My school was literally a prison. It was established over the very same site they decided to build this school(?) And they wonder why everyone's nutty. I can't stand the way h.s. made me feel and think.

And as far as I'm concerned, you never really leave.
The "real world" that is waiting for me on the outside is equally bad/even worse than the 4 years you thought you said gooo'bye to.

People just say that shit because they're scared of growing up.

I'm scared of growing up.

The wait is finally ovah!

I awoke to the sound of my sister's heavy footsteps earlier today, thinking something seriously wrong had happened.

She shook me with a sort of heavy, anxious breathing.

I looked at what was in her hand.

And there it was, smack dabbed on the envelope in big blue letters:

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S

I never tore into anything with that much sqwee in me. >_>

"Congratulations! On behalf of the Admissions Committee, we are pleased to inform you that.....blaladmakakdadanflarf!"
(I couldn't even read the rest of that letter till after my sister and I "SQWEEEEEEd!")

:phew:
FIT here I come!
If only I was 21, I'd be toasting my ass off!

SUCKS... indefinitely!
I'm sure getting that diploma will make up for all this.
Just when I thought my junior year of high school was crazy, this year takes the cake. It seems misleading, really. "Senior year'll be a breeze," they say...pht,my ass.

I'm so sick of the college talk right now because I

:bulletpurple:gotta retake the SAT in about 2 weeks(I actually got the nerve to open it by the way, I got a 1270),
:bulletpurple: gotta deal with transcripts and a college adviser who will probably end up screwing me over because she's just that lovable:roll:,
:bulletpurple:gotta get my college applications out well in advance of the holidays,
:bulletpurple:gotta run around for letters of recommendation,
:bulletpurple:gotta actually sit down and have more than a 5-minute-conversation with my father about these college applications,
:bulletpurple:gotta make sure my college essays are EXCELLENT,
:bulletpurple: gotta finish some more work for my portfolio,
:bulletpurple: gotta write an EXCELLENT artist statement for my portfolio,
:bulletpurple: gotta keep checking in with my art teacher to organize my portfolio,
:bulletpurple:gotta gotta gotta...!

:meditation:

My dream school is FIT:love:
And let's not forget the dreaded waiting game for the rejection and acceptance letters from these colleges. I hate this. I really do, the stress of it all...it's crazy. It's gut-wrenching, it's...it's a freakin panic attack waiting to happen is what it truly is!

:meditation:

January won't come fast enough.
At least by then, everything'll be out of my hands.

So, I was accepted to that college summer program I was telling you about... and so did my friend, which I think, makes it all the more exciting, me thinks. So orientation is this Thursaday and Friday and the prog. starts from the 2nd the the 26th. Hopefully it doesn't become a burden to go. But if it does, I think the 3 free college credits and the $250 stipend will prove to be great motivators.

That art competition I also told you about, there were alot of good pieces there. 1st place winner's was especially great. It was a highly realistic watercolor piece of a back alley in the city. 2nd place was mine, which hapened to be very different from the rest in terms of subject matter. The popular theme there was landscape.
Anyway, I dunno what the 1st winner got, but she was a no-show. I and the others were rewarded a $20 gift certificate to some art supplier place. That place is really far out there, so whenever I'm in the mood to go, I'll know that time is not something to worry about because it never expires...which is always a +

Hm, ah...yes...I'm a chicken! I've had my SAT scores for over a month now and have yet to open it. Haven't even been tempted in the slightest. Though, my sister keeps eyeing the envelope. -.-

So, to sum up...

I'm a winner!

a secondary winner
